The History of Pocono Raceway

They transformed 1,000 acres of farmland into a world-class racing facility. The track’s first race, an Indy car event, was held on July 3, 1971, and marked the beginning of a storied history in motorsports.

Unique Triangular Layout

What sets Pocono Raceway apart from other racetracks is its distinctive triangular layout. This 2.5-mile superspeedway features three distinct turns, each with varying degrees of banking. Turn 1 has 14-degree banking, Turn 2 has 9-degree banking, and Turn 3 boasts 6-degree banking. This layout presents a significant challenge for drivers, as they must constantly adjust their driving style in each turn.

NASCAR at Pocono

Pocono Raceway has been a staple in the NASCAR circuit for years. It hosts two NASCAR Cup Series races each season, making it a focal point in the championship.
